MONUMENTS AND MARKERS

Monuments or markers are a physical means of marking your loved one's grave. Monuments typically stand erect and vary in height. Markers, or headstones, usually lay flat in the ground.

Monuments are a combination of tangible and symbolic meaning. The tangible features of monuments are described as durable and simple. On a symbolic level, monuments are a final resting place, a testament to the religion of the deceased, and contain an inscription.

Taken together, these attributes form a permanent record of the deceased. This permanent record is valued for a diverse number of motivation: family, love, God and peace of mind.

Interestingly, the inscription also triggers memories of the deceased allowing a release of deeper feeling of love for the deceased.

Monuments or markers can be purchased at the time of death but quite often are delayed for several months following. They can be purchased either from your funeral home or directly through a monument/marker company.
